FROM ASBWA PRESIDENT
JAY TRUMBULL
ASBWA Members,
I am excited about our upcoming 2024 ASBWA Fall Education Day & Plant Tour!
Ozarka Water and Coffee Service is a family-owned and operated company with an extraordinary history and responsibility to serve its customers. CEO Steve Raupe and President Tanner Hanstein have graciously opened their doors to our members to see first-hand how Ozarka operates. They will be on hand for tours through their plant and will field your questions along the way. Ozarka was the first bottled water plant in Oklahoma City, and has been a steadfast leader in the community and the bottled water industry for many years. If you haven't yet signed up to attend this extraordinary event, it is not too late. Be sure to do so right away. I know you won't regret it.
As we enter the fall of the second year of ASBWA's existence, I am happy to report that this has been a productive time of planning and the re-establishment of our association and what it provides to the members. By combining the resources of the former MABWA, SEBWA and SABWA, we are fortunate to have a broad base of members from many states. Your board of directors is engaged as we work together to provide you with the best experience possible as an ASBWA member. We are working on a number of items to further enhance the Association and your benefits. Watch as we roll these things out in the coming weeks and in 2025!
Thank you for your support and involvement. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out by emailing me at jay.trumbull@culliganpc.com
Hoping to see you in October in Oklahoma City!
Sincerely,
Jay Trumble
ASBWA President

What's Trending in HR for 2024: A Look at Managing Younger Workers
GOTCHA COVEREDHR.COM
With unemployment rates hovering around 3.7% nationally, the latest buzz phrase in the HR world is “The Big Stay.” That’s right, after “The Great Resignation” made headlines during and just after the pandemic, we are now seeing a tighter labor market in which workers are less likely to jump ship in search of a better opportunity elsewhere. It could also mean that more employers have made adjustments to entice workers to remain in their jobs—offering more flexibility to work from home at least part of the workweek, providing training initiatives, and rethinking traditional approaches to hiring are all key to attracting and retaining younger workers.

Bidden-Harris Administration Finalizes First-Ever National Drinking Water Standard to Protect 100M People from PFAS Pollution
Washington, D.C., USA – EPA Press Office (press@epa.gov) on April 10, 2024, the Biden-Harris Administration issued the first-ever national, legally enforceable drinking water standard to protect communities from exposure to harmful per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as ‘forever chemicals.’ Exposure to PFAS has been linked to deadly cancers, impacts to the liver and heart, and immune and developmental damage to infants and children. This final rule represents the most significant step to protect public health under EPA’s PFAS Strategic Roadmap. The final rule will reduce PFAS exposure for approximately 100 million people, prevent thousands of deaths, and reduce tens of thousands of serious illnesses. Today’s announcement complements President Biden’s government-wide action plan to combat PFAS pollution.
